    I'm interested in creating smoke art and was wandering if anyone had some pointers for me. Thank you in advance for you tips.

    Hi, You can... I see on discovery channel... Use a dark backdrop, a jossstick and a flash gun... I can't really remember must. But the effect out is nice... Using a marco lens if i not wrong... standard zoom don't really help (I guess)... Of cause, no wind... haha

    Do a google search for "how to create smoke in photoshop". Many many many detailed examples, guides and videos.

    I would like to take the picture without using photoshop.

    the smoke is light gray in color, you can only use dark background in order to see and photograph the smoke.

    without using photoshop, you will only have gray smoke in black background.

    in order to make the final photos more interesting, we invert the images, and add colors to the smoke using photoshop.

    there is no way you can shoot colored smoke with a white background.

    Oh, well in that case, do a search for "how to photograph smoke". Much like before, you'll get detailed instructions and examples.

    It's really quite simple to do this research, I suggest you explore a bit more.
