hmm...quick question...is there any major advantage to use a diffuser rather than a reflector?...as in a bounce card rubber banded to the flash head?...
heh...other than the loss of light upwards that is... ![]() |

i dunno abt u, but i've used a bounce card b4. yeah. softer light and no red eyes. but, i really dun like it as too much light is lost and u might have to go really close to make sure enuf light falls on ur subject. however, i must add that i was using a home-made bounce card. so, mebbe the effects is due to my DIY card. the bounce cards made professionally may give better effects. the lumiquest softbox which i'm using now gives a more even spread of light. also, i love the catch lights it gives to my model's eyes during outdoor shoots. the only thing i dun like is that it looks ridiculously big when attached to my sigma 500DG super flash... i also have the stoffen diffusor. small and handy. but the light spread is not as even as i would like it to be. however, it doesn't look big when used on my flash, so less conspicous! hmm... wonder if anyone can modify it to make it collaspsible? i suspect, instead of using hard cardboard strips as the main supporting frame, mebbe we can separate the cardboard using clothe strips? this makes it foldable. i dunno.... i always fail in my technical classes in sec school... jbma - lets see if u can modify it!!!

Can't we just copy the Lumiquest softbox design to make it collapsible?

.Simple tests.
1/100s, f/5.6 Objects about 30cm from front of lens. Direct flash (Macro Mode), FEC -1 Bounce Card (18cm x 18cm), FEC +1 Flash Softbox (36cm x 24cm), FEC -2 ![]() . |

is it me, or does anyone feel that the direct flash output seem more better than the one with bounce & softbox?
