Default D70 support for Sb26 Sb28

Hello,

I need to buy a flash for my D70 cos the built-in one is too weak and cannot swivel/bounce. I wont be using CLS, wireless and those more than 1 flash thing. Can I use the old SB28/50/80/DX ones instead of the SB600/SB800 ?

The only main thing will be I-TTL is not supported, right.
How good/important is I-TTL ?

Pls advice......
Thanks a lot.

Anything other than the SB800 and SB600, and you will be forced to either use A mode, or M mode. iTTL, is rather excellent to put it modestly.

Forget about the old Nikon flashes, they and the D70 don't communicate at all, which makes them only as useful as third party auto flashes from Vivitar, Metz, etc

buy a SB800, u can use your build in flash + the SB 800 to create 2/3 CLS

and SB800 can accept SB600 if you want to upgrade ur lighting system next time. but SB600 cannot work with SB600.

at least i think SB800 can still work with the next 2 nikon generations.

click here to see how important is iTTL and CLS

the purpose for speedlite is not only for light. if ur purpose is for light only, then 80DX is enough.

Basically if you want to just fix a speedlight on top of your D70 and forget about it, you need the SB600/800. If you get ANY other Nikon speedlight, you can only work them in A or M mode, which means you need to think.
