I was seraching the forum but i could not get any info regarding the above. Was wondering since D70 is made in thailand will getting D70 from Thailand be cheaper? Is Singapore so far the best price for a D70 kit is at MS color S$2100 Nett. Also would D70 have international warranty? ![]() |

Not sure about Thailand, but it is cheaper in Malaysia.. think you can get it for ~SGD$1.9k with kit lens.
Do note that D70 body is under LOCAL WARRANTY only. Nikon lenses and flash enjoy 1 year international warranty, but not digital bodies. Cheers GYR |

not rue because they have high barrier and still transportation. My logic is No transport / less needed for thailand. No tax, abit funny if they tax goods made and sold in thailand...

Can't reason that way dude. AMD chips and Intel chips are made in Malaysia, but they cost way more in Malaysia than in the US, and the Malaysian market also gets the latest releases LATER than the US and Europe.. so, just because something is made locally, doesn't mean its cheaper. Don't believe me, compare the price of a Sony walkman in Japan and in Singapore

If you got friends in HK, D70 are the cheapest there [also a few other gear ... Gitzo is damn cheap there G1227 mk II only S$ 600 @#$#@$]
Based on prices I gather so far from my friends in respective country : D70 kit in SG : S$ 2000 [$1900 was the cheapest I ever heard], in HK S$ 1700, in MY S$1800, in Indo S$ 2100, in Japan S$ 2000 [I hear can get 10% off at least] maybe if you have better source, it will be cheaper some more. =bob= |

Dunno if you have frequent flyer price when shopping in SG shops, but when I bought a few lenses there .. I save around 15% compared to SG price. Anything with Made in Japan branding is cheaper in Japan .. dun ever try buying B+W filter in Japan .. u will be shocked to death ![]() =bob= |

Was in Thailand last month and checked out the prices of D70. I was quoted a much higher price than Singapore....but i didn't intend to buy so i didn't try bargaining. KL appears to be cheaper than Singapore as they do not charge GST

Question for Bob:
Any particular shop in Japan you buy the lenses from? Yodobashi and Bic have pretty standard prices and even after de-tax (If non resident dont have to pay tax. Just show your passport and visa when purchasing), I still find them more expesive than shops say in Malaysia or HK. Specially now that the yen is almost like a US$ in exchange rate. Any shops in particular you do your shopping on camera equipment, specially lenses? Thanks. cheers, bcoolboy |
