It seems that the Afs 300mmf4 will autofocus with new tc17e II.
Wow, 1.52 from D70 + 1.7 from tc17eII + Afs 300mm/f = 775mm at around f6. Quote from B&H : NOTE: Due to the high-quality design of this converter (7 elements/4 groups), the teleconverter will only fit and work with a select range of lenses, but with limitations. Only the following lenses are compatible: AF-S 300mm f/2.8D ED-IF (II) AF-S 300mm f/4D ED-IF AF-S 400mm f/2.8D ED-IF (II) AF-S 500mm f/4D ED-IF (II) AF-S 600mm f/4D ED-IF (II) AF-S 70-200mm f/2.8G ED-IF VR AF-S 200mm f/2G IF-ED VR AF-S 80-200mm f/2.8D ED-IF NOTE: Autofocusing only possible when used with D1, D1X, D1H, D2H, D100, F5, F100, N90s, N80, N75 and N65 AF SLR Cameras (or any newer models). Note: Only limited AF with AF-S 500mm f/4D ED-IF (II) and AF-S 600mm f/4D ED-IF (II). And from another supplier : I do not have a TC17e II in stock. I can order from Nikon, but it might take a very long time to get it. Nikon is very slow in shipping. It might take a month to get it, or it might take 4 months to get it, I do not know. TC17e II will autofocus with any autofocus lens. But to be safe better bring your Afs 300mm/f4 down to try before buying. Note : Checked with cathay & they have no idea when new stock will arrive. |

Well, since the 300 f/4 AF-S will Autofocus with the TC-20E II, its obviously going to AF with the TC-17E II. Nothing new here.

I thought TC20e II will auto focus for f-5.6 (after conversion) or bigger? So only a Afs 300mm f2.8 will auto focus with TC20e II and with a f4 only allows manual focusing. Last edited by Niccon; 19th August 2004 at 01:10 PM. |
