Holding charges is not the same as total capacity. No refreshing can increase the ability of the battery to hold the charges for longer period. It rather depends on the used materials, quality etc. These better types also don't come with miracle figures of capacity.

I just bought a La Crosse BC-1000 battery charger that can also refresh dead batteries.

Got it a few days back and testing their capacities now.

Have quite a few of them less than 1V...

Am using maha 801, has reconditioning function even though I have not really used. The online reviews have been great, n it is an 8-cell charger that can alternate between 1 & 2 hour rapid charge.

Refreshing is only trying to 'kill batt memory' ....doesn't revive dead batteries. Fully charge and use it till flat...then go for refresh. It can take a few hrs to discharge and recharge. Batteries life can be extended abit more... but does not give u a brand new life.

Try Sony...it's quite good for me.
