Thanks Sulhan for this piece of news. But if Minolta Singapore bring them in it is the max 3.3k. However, need 10 pieces leh for shipment to come. Like that how?

start a poll or a sticky thread?? Once you hit the minimum no. of people, then you folks can ask Minolta to order. Will be good to see some folks here using the SSM lenses.

think there was a thread on this quite some time back. You may want to do a search in this forum.

Here is the link

SSM= Fast, smooth and quiet focusing. (Very expensive)

HS= Fast, smooth, but noisy operation. (Still quite expensive)

Difference in cost could be a couple of hundreds of dollars.

The question is, do you need the speed?

Or are you buying them because they are equiped with better optics?

I personally decide on the purchase of a lens, solely because of the optical elements that is uses. Likewise, you'll never find AFS, USM, HSM or SSM on a Leica or Hasselblad lens.

Consider wisely before making such an investment.

Cheers.

Hi,

Optically, the 70-200 G SSM is reputed to be the best in its class.

But I'm not sure how the SSM system matches up to other similar systems. Anyone?

Cheers!

Only in the area of bokeh it is more superior. Otherwise, sharpness is less than 80-200 G.

Hi,

I believe the 2 are equally matched. But I was referring to similar lenses by other manufacturers. So far, I've read tests and reviews that put the 70-200 G SSM on top.

Cheers!
