Some noticeable camera shake. Did you hand hold the exposures?

I think your cheap tripod is suspect. Even with my solid tripod, there was also a little camera movement in some exposures for the 2 seconds average exposure.
Well for me, I used the D70 too. I used the IR remote control for the exposures. |

I find these repetitive stuff quite frankly, boring. Were there any variations at all to these fireworks? Year in year out I have been seeing the same.
Will a good tripod make a difference? You bet. |

I think a reasonable tripod will be the Manfrotto 190B with ballhead..will set you back around $200-$250? Saw quite a number of that while shooting at the 2 weekends of fireworks. I am thinking of getting one myself.

A manfotto like what bro Acidbyte recommend would be good enough. I have a D70 with a Gitzo CF tripod because I also use heavy lens like the 70-200VR. I have no complaints about the Gitzo though, although it is abit expensive. my 2 cents...

Yeah. I have a D70 too, and i think my shaky tripod won't be hanging on any longer so just want to get something moderate to use and i believe spending 200+ bucks on a tripod for DSLR should be worth it. :| I bought a manfrotto monopod and happy with it so next on my list would be the manfrotto tripod.
