Mate... You're so fast, I had posted a minute ago...

I got it from SimLim tower 2nd floor. I don't remember shop's name.

There are 2 parts you need to purchase:

-The black on-off switch. This provides the focusing when it is "ON" it is a good case with screw-ins which makes it very easy to attach the cable (not soldered). I only had to solder the red button.
- The red button for shutter release. In bulb mode, the curtain (no curtain of course) stays open as long as this button is kept pressed.

Hi Alpie,

Interesting. Thanks.

Just one question, can it do "half-press operation" on the shutter to let AF kicks in?

Yes. The BLACK on-off type button does the AF. Then RED button is the shutter release. It works just like the actual camera does: While half-pressing (turn BLACK button to ON position) press the shutter release (RED button), then remove your finger (release RED button and turn BLACK OFF).

As long as the BLACK is ON, the camera will think it is half-pressed.
As long as the RED is PRESSED, the camera will think it is full-pressed.
On the camera, the shutter-release has 2 stages. I couldn't find a similar button. But this one works fine too, easy to operate with one hand and the thumb.

Hi,

What if you are doing really long exposures? Is it able to lock and keep the shutter open without the need to keep the red button pressed?

Cheers!

For this you need to use a clothes-peg to lock the red button pressed.

I haven't tried it, but I think you need 2 x ON-OFF type buttons on your controller. You can easily find a dual button switch for that.
