    Default Earthquake and camera supply

Many consumer electronics companies have major manufacturing near Sendai. Will camera supply and prices be hit? Will new announcements be postponed?

    it is an unfortunate tragedy.

Thom Hogan wrote something about Nikon plant in sendai and the earthquake

While it seems according to Nikon sources the damage was minimal, the electricity shortage amidst many other factors will probably hamper any production for a while.

    Oh dear....

Next time if Singapore has natural disaster (unlikely), wonder how you will feel if you see people elsewhere asking if Singapore-made products will be affected..

You should be more worried about the people there, and not about camera supply.

But to answer your question, Nikon's plant there is used to produce the pro level equipment, so announcements of the pro equipment may be delayed. Nikon has claimed that their employees are all fine, but they are not expecting electricity to return soon, so they can't really run the plant there at the moment.

yup.. apparently there are still many singaporeans who're only concerned about their next japanese electronic gadget.

if you read these articles, i wonder how you would rethink your ideals:

    death toll to hit 10,000?
Nuclear Reactor damaged and might blow up
    more news here

    Videos of the destruction

rather than worry over not having anymore japanese cameras for the time being, why not click this link?

    How we can help Japan

and on a stranger note, our indonesian neighbors are only concerned about Maria Ozawa.

one country cares only about the latest gadgets, and another cares only about carnal satisfaction, while Japan struggles with devastation and nuclear meltdown.

    tsk tsk.

what is this world coming to?
