I believe for DX body it would be good to couple with 17-55mm F2.8 and used 24-70mm F2.8 if you upgrade to D700 and beyond. Just my opinion.

    24-70mm F2.8 is a good lens.

    I sold mine and buy 35mm F/1.4G.
Hence I switch to prime lens, I like the low light result and the weight..
I just move forward and backward to compose..

Main reason why I sold my 24-70mm:
    - I don't like the out comes on 24mm.
    - F2.8

I prefer 70-200mm for F/2.8 as it will most likely to be use outdoor.
Since the 35mm is wide enuf for my usage in low light, F/1.4 does help a lot in low light/Indoor.

In fact, the effect of f1.4 G is simply wonderful, which can't be found from a f2.8 lens or kit lens.

Thanks. I will consider again, especially have received some ridiculous offers on these fantastic G primes.
Anyone know how to get the similar colour tone using Nikon like the following links?

try to desaturate. different camera system produces different colours.
the green seem to be more vibrant than the rest of the colours in the album.

Exactly. Its just a form of mild cross processing. In my opinion, once the colors have been processed, its impossible to tell which system or lens it came from. Im just refering to the colors, not sharpness or bokeh.

Kent your set up is ideal for most situations. Canon's offerings won't differ much. And the new d700/d300s replacements are coming soon. You should be excited!
