my Dynax 5 in trouble

Hello,

I bought 10 days ago a Dynax 5 (Maxxum 5 for USA), and I was extremely
happy of the choice. So I decided to buy on eBay new lenses: Minolta
AF 70-210/f4. I've put the new lenses in the body, I made a couple of
shots, and after that the camera was switched off.
I thought of low batteries, so I bought new ones but still it's not
possible to switch it on.

Sometime when I put the batteries, or I try to switch it on the small
noise usually made can be heard. But the I cannot use the machine,
It's not only a display machine, because nothing it's working...
Neither the shutter button, the DOF, AF/MF and so on.

The problem obviously persists both using the original lenses (the kit
ones), and trying to switch the camera on without lenses.

I really need some kind of help.

Is it possible that lenses permanently damage a camera in such way?
Notice that while I was using the 70-210 AF was working and everything
seemed to be ok.

Send it to your local Minolta dealer for check, especially since its still under warranty.

I'll probably contact the seller and send it back (I've still some days).

I was able to "restart" the machine switching it on pressing the "AF lock" button.
I then discovered that with the big lenses if they are directed downwards the machine switch off again, and sometime if they are directed upwards it switches on. I've seen that also with the kit lenses if I softly pull them I get the same effect.
So it seems that the problem was there, but I could not notice with the light lenses.

u bought it from shop or from a person(2nd hand) ?

From a big shop on Internet. Do you think that could somehow be fault of the new lenses? Or is more likely than the problem was already in the machine?

U have a very unusual problem... it seems as if the lens is interfering with the power switch... did u try switching on the camera without any lens mounted? Does the camera come on?

i suggest you bring it back for one to one exchange.

I actually brought it to a repair lab, they told me that the problem is in the camera, the lenses are ok.

I sent it back, they are going to replace it with a new one.

Great! Vote of confidence for Minolta's service centre....

It's not involved Minolta, but the shop is going to substitute it....
I hope they are not going to raise any problem (at the phone they were really kind).
