Default comments please?

Hi all,

took some photos using a DIY lens adapter and DIY macro lens using an optical grade magnifying glass which give a roughly +12 diopter. occasionally a HOYA +4 close up for larger subjects.

would like some comments on the photo's quality.

Pulau AUR

Tioman Photos

all photos shot with canon s45 with internal stobe only.
3x optical,
aperture priority F6.3,
shutter 1/60
some minor color corrections and brightness adjustments with PS

sure..
i've even made a step by step guide
DIY len adapter

macro lens very easy to make. just superglue on a quality magnifying glass to an ordinary camera filter adapter ring.

abit ugly but most importantly it works!

everything shouldn't cost ya more than 50 bucks

hmmm... do you experience vignetting? is it easy to focus using your DIY macrolens?

no vignetting but lens flare do occur at lower zoom.
focusing not too much of a problem. just have to be within range with enough light. think it's +/- 10cm

cool!! hmm.. got some qn abt using macro lens UW.. r we suppose to put on the macro lens b4 we jump into water?? was thinking abt the space between the actual len and the macro len.... suppose to be air filled or water filled???

willl there be any diff??? hee... pardon my stupid qn.. nvr tried macro len UW b4 lah.. so thinking the result may be different for the 2 mentioned medium in between the lens..... and whether can we add an extension tube to increase the enlarging effect??

so wat u experts say...??

i not expert ah

but there's some holes in the lens port on the pt-15 housing, water will fill up the gap once you are underwater.

if you stack 2 or more, sometimes might need to unscrew abit to let the water fill up the gap.

oh oh! i know this! i know this!
having water between reduces your diopter rating by abt half. ie the closest distance is doubled compared to having air in between. hence image size is halved compared to having air in between.

having and extension tube would increase your chances of vignetting unless your lens is really big.

just to add on...
it has something to do with the refractive index of air/glass and
water/glass
