Default Bird Shooting trip - Part 2

Part 2 of my bird shooting trip with bro harlequin2902 on 28 July 2004. Our initial plan was to explore some areas where bro harlequin2902 have not been to before. On our first (and also last) stop, we happened to come across another bird shooter and due to our kayponess, we ended up with these………………..

Hi,

I like those pics of the Grey Heron you got (#2,3,5,6).

None of my Grey Heron shots passed the cut ! , even those which I went down to get

Time to buy a TC ...

Thanks bro! I guessed those are just lucky shots. Any idea what bird is that in pic #4?

What happened to those you took? Blur?? Btw, with a TC, I guessed you might need a monopod or tripod for that.

#4 looks like a White Bellied Sea Eagle.

My Grey Heron pics all looked pretty OK on the spot on the LCD, but when blown up on the PC, somehow they all look a little OOF, and the chromatic aberration (that purplish halo) completed the kill by spoiling most of them. Is your lens an APO lens ?

How come got chromatic aberration?

Mine is indeed an APO lens, and it comes with HSM which is similar to Nikon's AFS.

ccplim,

are you using a Sigma 50-500??? Those pics can be sharper, I think but due to cloudly condition, even a steady tripod can prove challenging to handle those panning subjects (birds). What tripod are you using?

Hey bro, I am indeed using sigma 50-500 but the weather that day was really.........

I am using Gitzo G2228 which is actually more suitable for macro.

Btw, this is actually my first time shooting birds in flight
