    This happened to me too. I recently sold mine 24-70, great lens but its just not practical for travel use.

    like i mentioned, try tamron 28-75. works very well for me.

    just asking, planning to use my prime as well on my trip to Tokyo
    i have 35mm 1.8G

    Not true, you can use any aperture to shoot, smaller aperture to get the whole image in focus and bigger aperture to emphasis on the subject. The choice is yours to make.
    Wat camera are you using? On a cropped frame camera the 35mm may be too restrictive when shooting indoor.
    I m sure you will appreciate the light weight of a prime lens while travelling.

    Stick to light weighed 18-105 lens for travel trips. Holidays are meant to be relaxing.

    Second the idea of getting 16-85. Can shop for new lenses in HK...

    Last trip i brought my 35f2.and. 70-200vr2. Used e 35mm 95%of the time.
