Thread: Realtime photoshooting from DSLR to PC

Default Realtime photoshooting from DSLR to PC

Anybody knows how I can take realtime photos with my DSLR and translate to the PC directly as I take the photos?

I read somewhere that there's a software for Nikon cameras, but mine is a CANON...

It's called tethered shooting. Support will vary depending on camera model.

If you have, say, a 550D, try a google search for "tethered shooting Canon 550D"

The software should be available on the CD packaged with the camera. The Nikon one which is camera control pro, have to be purchased separately

Can also try DCamCapture too, but I still prefer Lightroom 3

In the software that comes with the box, you should have EOS Utility. That's the software you need for shooting tethered (yes, that's the term for it). You'll need a long USB extension cable too.

In all my commercial shoots, I use these. I even use my macbook to shoot. I don't like the preview coz it's slow so I shoot into a folder and use Expression Media to automatically pull images from the folder for viewing. You can set all this up the software.

My assistant usually handles all this media stuff + lights so I can concentrate on shooting.

In my studio, I shoot right into my mac, so creative directors or even clients can view the images immediately. All using EOS Utility. Good stuff.

I use Aperture to process....but I can't seem to get it to work tethered.

I just found my EOS CDs... Trying them out now. Will probably download Lightroom trial version too. Would the two complement each other other will they crash?
