    I shoot like that when I have the other hand to support the lens, the other way when somehow my other hand carrying, say, tripod or other stuff coz can use only one hand. But I feel more stable shooting the way in the pic though.

    Wah... I am most humbled by seeing all these response.
    It goes to show how ignorant I am. Also it proves that there is no right or wrong way to do one thing.
    After studying the picture a few more times, I come to realise why is it that I don't hold my camera this way:
    - I always make use of the vertical grip's shutter button when I hold the camera in the portrait orientation.

    But nonetheless, it was a great learning experience for me to see so many of you shooting in this way.
