Thread: How to Take Pale and Light Colour Effect Photo with E-PL2?

    Hi guys,

Am a noob in photography and have a question which I hope the experts can help.

E-P2 has an art filter call Pale and Light Colour but it is not available on E-PL2.

The following link is how the Pale and Light Colour filter looks like:

    http://asia.olympus-imaging.com/prod...p2/feature/02/

May I know if it is possible to take photo with such similar effect with the E-PL2? If so, what are the settings I need to play around with?

    Thanks for your help! =)

You want it straight out of cam or you willing to do some PP on the computer?

    Hi ZerocoolAstra,

    Thanks for your reply.

Possible to do it straight out of the cam? Has it got to do with the colour saturation or the White Balance thingy?

I don't have my EPL2 with me now, but you maybe able to find something similar in in the scene mode instead of the art filter?

Its possible, but if its not avialable in the art filters, most likely its something done on Olympsu Viewer or else in photoshop, cause they keep changing the art filters based on what generally people like using, hence the pop art, pin hole and soft focus has been around since E-P1 but filters like sepia is only on the E-PL1, diorama on all but E-P1 etc

Hi spidey89, thanks for your suggestion. Erm.... I figured out where to set the saturation and WB but where do I go to tweak the contrast?

All these things are new to me, so hope you can bear with me, thanks!

Try playing around with levels in photoshop and reduce satutation...can also try adding a screen layer, 50% opacity.

curves is something in photoshop used to correct exposure I think, not really sure of the explanation, but you wanna do it in camera right? instead of doing PP?

Hi Berkins, thanks for your advice. Actually hope to achieve the effects with the camera cos in case the shot is lousy or not satisfactory, still can retake on the spot.

Actually, doing it in post process isn't too bad since you can actually record action and automate multiple images, but not sure if the settings for a certain image will work on another image taken another time

icic. Will explore Photoshop at a later stage cos still busy exploring the features of E-PL2 and still trying to figure how to take a decent looking photo.

Been looking through the works of other forummers, really awesome! Hope I can take a shot of such quality in future

    Don't need to hope.
It can be done by applying the basics and knowing when to bend the 'rules' to suit your artistic intent
    All the best!

    * I still think that learning effective post-processing skills (eg. Photoshop, Lightroom, etc) would benefit you greatly. Probably no need to really be a master at it, but just learning some of the basic functions will be sufficient.
    Exploring! :)
