new set D5000 with 18-55mm 969sg with one year warranty

    source http://alanphoto.com.sg/nikonslr.html

    2nd hand 18-55mm VR in B&S section around 150sg

    does it have warranty?

take note D3100 new set 850sg with kit lens already the only difference between the D5000 and the D3100 is the swiveling screen and the D3100 has a higher resolution sensor

D5000 has many limitations... I'd actually suggest something that you can also use to easily take shots of yourself and your friends, like a sony A33. it also has a swiveling screen, but it has fast autofocus in live view mode which the D5000 does not.

second that... i own a d5000 and the focusing speed in live view is extremely slow.
Google is your friend. Make use of it.

Welcome to CS. Really most DSLR on sale now are great. Lens wise just get the kit lens and/or a cheap 18-200 lens will do. Start small, play more. Then you will know what you want later.

Just to share a tip. Whenever you think your camera doesn't produce great photos, think of this. Post processing, it does wonders.
    Canon 550D - EF-S 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 IS / EF 50mm f1.8 II
Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro
