just aim at the sun, to make the effect more pronounced, use cheap lens, dirty filter.

My older lens (Minolta) are more prone to lens flare especially paired with lousy filter. Sometimes people want to avoid flare, some want it. Haha indeed one man's meat is another's poison.

it requires trial and error at various angles. yes, those normal filters and cheap lenses (e.g. non-multi-coated lenses) can make your life easier in this case.

Sunlight bokeh. That's a new one.

It's lens flare. test your lenses around sunset/sunise to see if they're prone to it.

Also, is that even your photo?

use ur most prone to flare lens(most sigma are very prone to flares) and buy those cheappo non multicoated filter like steinzeiser, and then just try to shoot and view the result
i buy i sell i use, repeat, such are the vicious endless cycle of GAS

Shoot directly into the sun without a lens hood and filter, you should get a lens flare, especially if the lens is a really cheap one, like other CSers mentioned

You can see the wonderful effect of badly corrected lenses when you search for lomo pictures...
