One more issue, the VF's we use may not be 100% coverage and we do not use split screens, thus manual focusing may not be that accurate.

It's more of a practise and get it right issue IMO. Also try to use the camera's green dot for confirmation of focusing.

Abit late for the macro discussion.

I'm still learning how to photograph still life and flowers in a macro but one major obstacle for me is my own eyes. my eyesight is pretty bad and when looking into the viewfinder my eyes get tired easily and a clear image sometimes appears blur to me.

Probably need to lurk moar in the forum to pick up some tips on how to shoot better but for now this is the most frustrating thing for me when shooting.

Also, some macro shots have incredible clarity which is virtually impossible for a newbie like me to achieve without spamming shoots irl for practice.

Just focussing on getting the right gear now.. I have a tamron 90mm but I think I'll probably need the raynox converter 150/250 too if I really want to go into the subject and get images uncropped on the computer.

Any suggestion? If it's inappropriate do let me know, apologies in advance!
Stay with your 90mm. I using 200mm with FX which is the same like using 125mm in DX.

Dump that raynox and go for extension tube. It is a crap piece of glass unless you just want web viewing quality.

Don't stare right into the VF, just relax and look thru it. With practice, you can shoot with 2 eyes open to prevent straining your eyes.

If you want to flash, bounce it... make sure it does not reach the eyes (or you may scare the cat and also the green eye effect)

I don't, use reflector instead. If use flash as fill, off camera is a better choice.
