Default Somthing about 602

Using it more more than 24hours.. took some shots and overall its a fine cam... but some rants....

1. No batt life indicator!! Seems that either i miss it or it doesn't really have it.

2. Memory/shots left/used indicator.. could it be me again??

3. Flash is manual.. i was thinking about a auto pop-up flash when flash is selected....

Still trying out may add in...

1. I think the battery indicator only shows up when it's weak. Not very intuitive but then my previous camera isn't much better (the first bar last >100 shots, the next 2 bars less than 30).

2. Got! Got! Top right hand corner of the screen shows the resolution and the number of shots left.

3. Good and bad. For some cases, you don't want to flash. If it auto pops up, then you have to disable it.

side-track here....

azone, I used the +4 close-up and was only able to capture minimum about 3.8cm wide. focussing distance is slightly more than 20cm (under normal mode and 6x optical zoom).

You mean it takes an object of 3.8cm wide to fill up the whole frame?

yup! I was able to fill the frame with my watchface, which is around 38mm. not as good as I would like, so I got another +3.

I could test again under daylight tomorrow. There was some problems focussing cos the lighting in my home is quite poor.

I see. Yes, you should be only getting an effective 0.84x magnification (not even true 1x macro yet) with the +4 on the 210mm S602. Stacking on another +3 (total +7) should give you 1.47x, which is as almost good as having a +4 on the 380mm C700.

But my concern on stacking would be soft edges. Do let me know the result ok? Thanks!!

Tried, could capture abt 23mm width now with stacked +7. there's some corner softness. would post pic when I have the chance.

apparently there was not much improvement in the low light focusing of the s602z over the 6900z

low-light focussing isn't good. there're times when I can achieve autofocus only if I use high ISO.

camera gets quite warm after some time. when the batteries are running low, it'll be even hotter (a characteristic of NiMH).

i suddenly got a idea...perhapes it'll sound a bit stupid.. maybe we can find some super small torch light or soethign similar and mount it to the side of camera.. with a puch of button, we can activate it to do focusing...
hehe...
just a wild idea..

I use close-up filters and shoot under normal mode (not macro). So, the camera was abt 14cm away (for +7) and 25cm away (for +4). This allows light to fall on the coin.

try not to use dollar or coin shot for comparison ... My suggestion is to take a shot of a ruler .....

Its not wild. Check out dpreview forums. Think there was a long thread in the fuji forum on attaching a maglite or powerful minitorch using vecro to the side. The only thing they havent figured out is how to synch the light with the focusing.
