    Default Taking night macro shots?

Guys, how would you take a night, outdoor, macro shot?

It depends on the subject material you are shooting, some subjects require the use of IR illumination etc at night instead of conventional light.

For general use I use some micro floods (for camcorders) to provide a working light source for focusing and then go across to flash for the shot.

How about taking an insect on the road with light source from lamp post 2 metres above ground? Would you use flash in this case?
