Thanks... But not now. Maybe when my skills are sophisticated enough, I'll consider it...

The image indeed looks awesome but the lighting seems vastly different for fair comparison purposes. And same subject, lighting pics to open our eyes & entice our wallets further

Hi bro, you have some pictures to share so we all can see for ourselves how they are comparatively? Seems this Tamron is a special edition & relatively new in the market? Thanks

yap...the 70-300 pics are taken outdoor with fill flash while 70-200 is in door with flash.

That's what I felt. Natural outdoor lighting much softer compared to artificial flash lighting. Harsh & strong flashlighting has tendency to put things into sharp relief with high contrast between dark & light, black & white, making pics seem exceptionally "sharper". Do you have pics from both lens under same lighting so we have fairer comparison? This's not to fuel debate of which is better but to understand the compromises made. Thanks.

    you are right.

    70-300 @ 170mm f5 indoor with flash

but 70-300mm tends to lose out some details when shooting low light indoor.

Thank you. Picture clear as daylight now, or rather as flash light now First time look so close into the eyes of pretty girls, damn scary & yet so mesmerising, esp thru your lens Wonder if pointed somewhere else I mean like the lips lah. Now know why you chose what you chose ha ha....

Just an update. I have went ahead to purchase the 70-300VR. It is a great lens and very much sharper compared to my non-VR G version. Nearing the 300mm end pictures still end up slightly soft but still a great improvement over the non-VR. I'd say this is a worthy lens for those both using DX and FX. Feels solid enough, good pictures and won't burn a hole in your pocket like the 70-200 f2.8.
