    Hi guys,

Planning a 8-10 days trip to Yading in early April.

I have not been to Daocheng and Yading, but when I was trekking in Yu Beng (Meili Xue Shan), I met a few people who have backpaced there without using any tour agency... so i suppose independent trekking in Daocheng/Yading is possible if you are keen...

I was there in Yading about 9 yrs ago n it's still one of the most beautiful places I've ever been . Hopefully it's not yet over-run or over developed.

Not sure about Apr but was there in early May and can see beautiful dujuan hua. Apr can be really nice in the mountain in terms of snowy scenery; especially after when it clears up from the heavy snow. The mountain looks majestic. What to do -- always a trade off!

On the journey to Daocheng, you will probably be able to see yellow rape seed and Li (pear) hua. Do also, stop/stay overnight in Xindujiao (not in hotel downtown but in the local guest houses out in the plain). See photos here
