Hi,
I've an a70 and suddenly there's a small red dot on the lcd, it appears in the pictures taken as well. Think its considered a dead pixel on the ccd? If so, anyone knows whats canon's policy? Its still under guarantee, can i jus bring it to service centre and get it fixed foc? And any idea how they will fix it? Is it just remapping or change the entire ccd? And any idea how long it'll take... Thanks alot! ![]() |

Mostly what they will do is remapped. Have seem my friend sent in before and they told him remapped will do on A40. 1 day will do if you sent in direct to keppel bay tower but if you sent in to funan will take weeks n who knows more problem will occurs due to the transporting of your DC by courier guy to and fro.

Refer to your instruction manual. In the case of CCD imaging sensor, there should be zero dead pixels.
In the case of the LCD preview/review screen, there is a tolerance listed on the manual. I think it is below 1% of the total number of effective pixels. Sounds terribly little till you realize there's probably over 100,000 pixels on your LCD screen. Which means you need something like 4 or 5 dead pixels before your LCD screen gets replaced. Of course, all these means nothing if your A70 is already out of warranty, which then means you gotta come up with the money out of your own pocket if the dead pixel irks you that badly. |
