f90x AF is "fast enough" but jerky. it has only 1 AF point thou...and cannot use G lens. when used with nikkor 80-200/2.8 two touch, AF will struggle appreciably due to the len's heavy elements. i shot< funkamania 2001> with this combo.
suggest u go for f100. coz the f100 AF is smoother. (CAM1300) and has 5 AF points. and can use G lens and build quality and etc ![]() |

F100, too ex leh. Just recently barely managed to pay off the D70 kit with my lousy shots. F100 body is like 1.2k? I just need a workhorse that can withstand breakage (in case D70 breaks.....unlikely as i don't do Mt Everest or what but still plastic) |

2100, f90x is a very good camera. The only gripe one may have about it is that it doesn't work with G lenses. But personally, that's not a problem for me because I use prime lenses mostly. For a backup or second film camera body, the f90x is an excellent choice. Go for it.

compare both the F90X and F100......The F90 still do hunt in low lighted places sometimes......normally i will switched to manual focus in this case. ![]()

Thanks for the responses.
Just handled a couple of 2nd hand F90x at TCW, the peeling back problem sucks. Heard that the lighter fluid/isopropanol striping treatment is not so easy to do cleanly too. ![]() |

dun bother buying from tcw unless u are a carrot. hunt ard the buy/sell forum, find a minty one with the motor drive. skip the md26 back, bring to nikon and get a new one there, no peeling back problem to handle. if u are feeling rich, get a cla as well.

Not motor drive but vertical grip. I agree on skipping the MF26 Databack unless it comes with the body at a very good price. e.g. $500 for body + MF26 + MD10 CLA unnecessary if body is in mint condition. Just get shutter count and check that the pressure place is free of wear and scratches (an indication of heavy use - unless seller has been smart enuff to replace it). |

![]() The sticky back is a non-issue if the other parts of the camera are in good condition. It feels much better when you scrape off everything. |
