Thread: Changing of bodies.

    Default Changing of bodies.

    Hello clubsnappers,
need advice and information on whether if i switch my 40D, to 550D. Isit better?
The only difference is 550D supports HD movie. Whereby 40D fps is way much faster.
    Thanks in advance!
    Shooting today anyone?

550D is a relatively new entry-level camera. The 40D is an older semi-pro body.

"Isit better?" is very relative. Better how? What do you think the 40D will help you do the 550D can't? If you're talking about image quality, you can use any of the dozens of websites online to compare.

Difference is not only HD movie.

550D uses a better processer , better metering ,better noise control and larger lcd screen
But you lose out on the magnesium alloy body, high fps, brighter viewfinder, top lcd screen and scroll dial (which i feel its faster to change settings than traditional buttons).

Question is if your shooting requires the higher resolution and the slightly better iso performance. And will your shots benefit from this 'upgrade'

I want the HD movie and the better ISO control, but to add in the faster fps and magnesium body is way better. So if i change my 40D to a 550D i would actually gain more rather than lose?

Depends on whether or not you need the things the 40D has. "Gain" is relative.

Maybe you should just set your sights higher and get a 7D.

Then again, you sound like you don't know what you want or need. My suggestion is to keep your $$$ in your pocket until you're skilled enough to know what is limiting you.
