Updated, I'd say they indeed resolve the issue of hot pixel...

But I can't help but to think they introduced another problem :/

What do you think? (open up in 1080 resolution)

    Hi all,

Last nite I went to try out D7000 long exposure with the new firmware for the first time, and found that, i still have lots of hot pixels at ISO 1600 shutter speed 30 secs.

And the following few shots also have the hot pixels.

But if exposure time is around 10 secs, then there is no obvious hot pixels even iso is at 3200.

I am not sure if there is any relation to lens use, cos the earlier shots which I found got hot pixels were shot using Sigma 24mm f2.8, and the later ones with no obvious hot pixels were shot using Nikon 50mmf.18

Just to share also, i did the lens cap on test after the firmware upgrade, using ISO 3200 at 10secs, there is no hot pixels. i am thinking does the shutter speed strongly affect the results of the hot pixels.

I would love to put up the full size, but I can't find a place to let me upload such a big file, can you recommend any website that I can upload big file size?

but take note.. somehow.. mine set is the same as other forum members one.. i was extremely disappointed after the first time i upgraded the firmware, because it turned out no different.. and one hot pixel becoming more obvious.
so.. i did the second upgrade ... phew... the issue is gone!

anyway.. i suspect tat was due to the last 2 steps that i didnt follow.
    # Switch on the camera, and access the Firmware version item in the setup menu to confirm that the camera's firmware has been upgraded. Switch camera off, re-insert SD memory card.
    # Format memory card in camera for use.

    cheers.
Same thing happened to me... I guess we have to follow the instruction closely... after the 2nd update, my bright red pixel on LV mode is gone!!!

    Everything is perfect now!

assuming that it's like what Luv4Nature said, does it mean the firmware is more like a 'work around' or 'fix' rather than solving the root cause of problem (hot pixel)?

    TIA.
I don't see how this matters

I must be missing something.. what to see?!?
It's all dark.. these people should get a life and shoot something other than pitch black (although it is a great movie).

Great movie? O_o? The videos are deliberately 'darken' for a good reason my friend

For 1st video, try to expand the video to 1080 and maximize the video.

Then focus at the upper middle central area, do you see the bright bluish pixel? There's a not-so-noticeable red one at bottom middle right. Also noticed that the noise level (random red blub appearing) is kinda low?

Then the 2nd video, do the same, you'll noticed that the bluish and red pixel is gone. What in exchange is...
    1) Random pixel stuff (eg. @ 3-4 sec, there's a weird white pixel appearing for a brief 0.2 sec at bottom right
    2) Noise level is kinda noticeable now.

Other than that, I've tried manual control of video @ ISO 1600, works for me quite well

I may be wrong, but I'm guessing AbangR was referring to "Pitch Black" the movie

Sorry, I rarely touch movie so I don't get the joke but...

I videoed some monkeys today... and I see no hot pixel, other than the monkeys becoming hot after a while (and show me aggressive stance)...

Hey guys... My single bright red pixel reappeared after one day of shooting... Just did another update and it was gone now...

Wonder if it will keep on reappearing after some time again???

    Anyone had the same experience?

Doing another update with same version of firmware won't make new difference though

Bought my beloved D7000 with the knowledge that it will come along with some hot pixel. Mine got 3. 1 very bright green and 2 dimmer red. After upgrade all gone. Well done Nikon.....
