Default Any shop selling extension tube for macro shot?

Just read thru some of the macro photo thread, i feel like trying out and i don have the macro lens atm. I saw people talking about the extension tube which can transform normal lens to take macro.

And also i read that there is extension tube one with AF and one with MF.

AF extension tube i ask from alan photo and cathayphoto which cost around 150-200 and i think i fork out 100-150 more can get a macro lens.

For MF extension tube which i read is much cheaper but the cost im not too sure which what im looking for it now.

Any suggestion on this kind of extension tube for macro shots and where i find this selling in singapore?

I don wanna spend the money on a new macro lens as budget is quite tight but still wanna enjoy the macro shots. =)

300-400 for a macro lens? don't think so... even the cheapest macro lens i can think of, the tamron 90mm is about $400+ second-hand..

of course, if you're talking about manual macro lenses, it's possible.

MF extension tube is very cheap, you can look at TAGO TECH (google) for such extension tubes.

Maybe you should start off with a #4 closeup filter. It's approximately $25.

Just screw on like a normal filter; you are actually putting a magnifying glass in from of your camera. Camera to subject distance (working distance) is about 5" to 6".

This is a Point and Shoot camera with a +4 closeup lens

    More info on closeup lens.

one thing to take note, these are cheap, but you get what you pay for.

close focus filter, the cheap ones will have corner sharpness problems.

raynox is better, but costs more.

extension tubes, on the other hand, do not degrade IQ of lens. but there is light fall off. every choice got compromise..

actually tamron 70-300 can focus quite close for larger insects... 1:2 doable. don't need to buy anything unless you want to take smaller insects? or something smaller than a dragonfly.

these are all my photos taken with the sigma/tamron 70-300 (both can focus 1:2 from 200-300mm thereabouts)

You can get the closeup lens from Cathay Photo.

You can use it on both lenses if the diameter is the same; if they're different, you can use a step-up or step-down ring.

It's easier to start off with the 18-55mm.

Go and check out artworkfoto, they have an automatic extension tube which cost around $75 which can control/adjust your aperture!

If i use that lens, does it mean that i have to stand quite a distance from the object?

I really like ur photo. I really need more learning and practice =)

Try shooting at steady subjects first...it would be easier for you to learn!

trust me, when you start shooting insects, you will realise that distance is a boon, rather than a bane.

300mm working distance is very comfortable. in fact, 150-200mm is more than enough for things like dragonfly. for more jumpy subjects like butterflies, a longer working distance is always welcome. dragonflies are a lot more forgiving. even if you disturb them and they leave their perch, they will return. better to shoot in the early mornings before the body has warmed up and they are active. and please, always remember, do not destroy nature just to get your pictures. we have had loads of jokers here do silly things like keep the dragonfly in the room or carry it home to shoot, etc.

some of these images are cropped slightly, btw..

i can't really remember the dsitance, but there's a distance scale on your lens itself... if i'm not wrong, it should be 0.95 m ? not that far mar. insects not so happy to have humans looking at them through large lenses y'know.
