Default IXUS 500 - Help pls

please advice.

I just bought a IXUS 500 from John 3:16.

Upon charging the battery for some hours, happily playing with it....great camera, no doubt.

However, after shooting for just 30 or so shot, the battery runs dead. I charge the battery again, and the same thing happened.

I got no choice, so send to John 3:16, and to my horror, they told me to go to Canon to repair it. Moreever, he claims that the flash is spoiled.

Pls advise,

a..... any one got similar problem?
b..... what do you suggest wat i should do ?

Thanks....

technically, they are within their rights to refer you to canon.
but since you just bought the camera from them, if they want to keep you as a long term customer, they should swap the set for you, then deal with canon themselves.

Since John 3:16 has referred you to canon, I'd suggest you make that trip down to canon, with the warranty card and receipt. And try to ask them for a new set, since it's been only a few days. Dont take no for an answer too easily. Unless the "no" comes from the service manager.

if its less than 7 days, they should change it for you, but no worries go to canon and address your problem.

For exchanges less than 7 days old due to some form of 'defects', what would Canon, or other camera companies for that matter, do? Would they repair the set and sell it off as brand new? Or will they return it to Japan? (I doubt it.) I wonder... Guess we won't really know it?

In certain way, you are right. I just realize that J 3:16 not authorized dealer......should have gone to Alan Photo, which is a dealer
