#01: Buddies in Combat

- took this during my nite dive at Tulai, tioman. WE saw them from afar and quickly surrounded them to have a gd view.. think the pair might have mistook us as ememies.. they quickly got into BACK-TO-BACK position, to cover all their angles while planning their escape..

#02: Standing Nudi

- took this at bahara rock. Saw it lying comfortably on a boulder. Decided use the method suggested by waisj to "MAKE it STAND".. placed my big ugly finger infront.. and HEY MAN!! it really started to "stand".. and here it is.. standing high up and proud... ( * who need a viagra now can pm waisj for tips.. really can make it STAND.. *wink ) hohohho..
hee.. actually.. think it was being scared stiff.. was trying so hard to reach for the upper rock.. hee.

COMMENTS PLEASE!!

The composition and overall colour balance of the "standing" nudi works for me!! Gorgeous photo!

Heheheh... quite evident from all the posts that waisj knows all the tricks and tips about "standing tall" and threesomes...

Viagra is for people whose fingers can no longer help them stand and be counted

can i hijack this thread and put my photos for the same trip here or not??

anyway, for the standing nudi, we took quite a few shots of it, i also took some. this is the "tallest" shot la, haha. and one of my shots, there were a bit of green shades on the butt of the nudi, will post later in the day (if i can).

for the squid shot, what setting would you c5050 guys recommend, given that I HAVE NO STROBE k ... too bad i didnt get to try, cos on this trip i had to lead the divers for the night dive...

yeah.. no prob loh..
hmm thinking maybe i need to go in nearer.. (*was at least 1.5m away.. ) afraid i might juz scare it away if i go nearer..
maybe next time i shld try to get closer so that more lights can fall on them..
as for C5050 with max aperture of F8.. think quite hard to get a clear pic without strobe i think... EXPERTs.. correct me if i'm wrong...

well, for those with strobes or dslr, would definitely find f/8.0 too little, but i guess we can only make do, and try to find the best settings. given the situation that night, i think it would have been ok if you tried to edge closer, but quite obvious they were already jittery from the swamp of black huge ugly fishes with bright lights...

Waisj, was in Melaka last week eating Chendol.....

Compared to the C-5050, DSLR can go all te way to F32, but it is at least 2 times the price of a C-5050.

Still the same words, shoot within the capability of the system, just like there is ntg I can do if a whale swam by and I have my macro lens on.

Waisj has some decent shots, esp the pgymies, which I couldn't replicate on our trip. He could also just easily stack the macro lens up if need be.

Get the cam, the housing, the add on lens, the strobe, then another strobe, then a backup camera system......u know the routine. u already know what u need next, so stop whining and start saving.

Or rent from me, cheap cheap. Rent one, get two free. Who knows, I may get new equipment. Ask DTan.

i did think of renting equipment from you ,hee, especially since you said you will not be diving (for how long?) but i still wanna try what i can do with my camera myself and i ... i tried manual white balance, but seems too washed out, maybe need to push the f stop lower.. will open another thread for this one later, post my manual white balance shots (unedited and edited) for you guys to see...

i am not siaoon, but i guess i can answer that, haha. the original pic could almost only see the eyes of the squid facing the camera. he used PS to push it out. i quite like it, though it would be fantastic if the eyes could be sharper. i like the elusive effect. send in for uwcs photography contest???

ya... like wat beivied says.. its super underexposed.. can only c the the eyes of the squid... i use ps to correct the exposure thats all.. hmm and maybe due to the the exposure correction.. it become very grainy hence the effect..

if possible i try to post the original later..
