Hi guys, was wondering what you thought of the sony custom fit leather case for the F828?
I know most if not all of you carry full sized camera bags with space to store the external flash, charger, x-drive, spare batteries, memory cards and so on...... i know i'll be getting more accesories for the camera in time but for the moment im only gonna be carrying the camera around....and i don't want to be lugging around a huge bag........ All i'm looking for at the moment is a small form fitting case which can store a spare battery and the lens hood. also saw the lowepro toploader 70AW anyone using this case? is it as bulky as it looks on the website? |

I don't think its an economically feasible idea to get the leather case. It's only a matter of time you'll be getting at least some of the accessories. For that, you will need a little room to put them in. Perhaps you can one of those crumpler bags "King Tiger" is using. It's small and looks great. Cost a little over a hundred of I'm not wrong. I'm also tempted into getting one of those, as there may be times whereby carrying a backpack with all the accessories don't seem like a good idea.

i agree that u shld get a proper bag with room to spare if you intend to get the optional flash units and more batts etc. im using the accessory kit semi-hard case (which comes with protective filter & spare batt) and it's just sufficient for the f828 with a spare batt, cleaning cloth/blower brush and lenshood, and thats it nothing else can get in. for me, its a matter of meeting my needs - i've grown tired of those SLR-and-lenses+flash unit lugging days. but of course once my photo-fanatic days come back again i'll be getting those lowepro/crumpler bags, theres no way of getting around it if you want to expand yr hobby. cheers!

Same like what you have been thinking, at the begining, I look for a small bag which can store only my F828, spare battery and lens hood. But later found that it is too small as I am getting more accesories for my camera. Most of my shooting require Flash, if not, teleconverter, hence, I end up buying another bigger bag and as the small bag was no longer use to me and I sell it away at lower price. The bag which I am carrying is Crumpler Bag Model : Tall E, it cost SGD $100 at Cathay Photo, locate at Peninsula Plaza or Marina Square. If fully loaded, I estimate it can have storage for F828, F32X Flash, 2 teleconverters, 8 AA size recharge batteries, 1 FM-50 Sony batttery, 2~3 filters, cleaing kits. Total weight full load would not be more than 3 kgs. A bag not so big and not so small, suitable for a casual street photography whom do not need to carry everything. Hope this help you. http://www.crumplerusa.com/images/pr...1_w_stuffb.jpg http://www.crumplerusa.com/images/pr...1_hcsstuff.jpg http://www.crumplerusa.com/products/...ges/te005b.jpg |

I've finally succumbed to temtation of the dark side. Got myself a crumpler bag similar to King Tiger's, except that mine is black/dark grey. Surprised that such a little back has so many compartments. But my Lowerpro backpack will still remain on active-duty pending on the type of field trip.

I would 100% recommend Stamp Claimer, slightly bigger in size and fit the F828 comfortably well. Trust me, cos I use it before. And trust me, you will sell it away once other accessories start coming in. ![]() |

Haha...i guess speed is both my greatest strength and also getting my wallet burnt fast. The crumpler is quite comfortable to carry around, although in terms of having all the accessories around, I would still prefer using my lowepro backpack which rests on both my sholders for added support. Then again, if I'm shooting indoor, carrying the backpack and walking around looks weird. So that's where the crumpler comes into place. |

I'm also very tempted to get a bag for my F828, but a dedicated cam bag means I cannot carry other non-cam miscellaneous stuff, e.g. water bottle, notebook diary, MP3 jukebox, umbrella, etc. etc. you know what I mean.
Currently, I got a cheapo padded triangle-shaped casing for F828 with zip compartments to put batteries and filters and CF cards. Comes with strap, so I can carry the casing alone. For F32X, I am using the cloth bag that comes with it. And I just put them all in my cheap unpadded sling bag I bought at the Wallet Shop. It's a little messy, takes time to get my gear out, but I don't require 'operational-ready' mode all the time. And I also don't throw my bag around. |
