Hi guys...I just got my SB600.....I noticed that the focus assist lights do not align exactly with the focus point of my D70....
The focus assist on the SB600 will project 2 groups of lines....vertical and horizontal across the wall...I find that my alignment is slightly off from the centre focus point of the D70... Anyone experience this....? Is it normal for the 2 rows of focus assist grids not to be aligned with the focus point of the camera....? |

Hmmm... I don't have an SB600 (or any speedlight yet...), and I haven't read the manual, but I would guess that the exact position of the focus assist beams would depend on your subject distance - so at certain distances, it might be slightly off (remember that the focus assist lights are positioned above the lens, and so those lights will need to be pointed down at a very slight angle - thus at a certain subject distance it will coincide with the exact centre, but at other disctances it will be very slightly off), but as long as it can achieve focus there shouldn't be a problem.
Don't measurebate too much, as long as it works fine, just be happy ![]() |
