I know many of you are waiting to see the pics, but this being only day 2 since my return, I hardly have time to process the pics. Will be away this weekend as well to personally check the haze situation in Melaka (PSI reading is a national secret in our neighbouring country) to I guess the earliest i can do the PSing will be over the next 2 weeks ....
anyway, I was looking thru some pics yesterday and stopped at this one, one of my fav - mating Mandarin fish. This was taken at the house reef of Lembeh Resort. More will follow in due course, although i think i will have a hard time deciding on which ones to share. Will try hard to limit them to my fav 10 ![]() #1 ![]() Eric Last edited by kthan; 1st July 2004 at 08:45 AM. |

"Some of the photos are up <snip> about 100 more pics to upload." Wah! A hundred more? Sorry to say it but I dun have time to browse so many pics via the web ... even though I was on the LOB the pics were taken so have an acute interest in them. Especially here in Indonesia where 33kbps is normal Better do like you do Eric: choose the best and dump the rest. (it was good friend of mine who post the pics so I know she won't mind my saying this here) The pic is lovely Eric ... how did you get them to mate ![]() |

very nice... hmm.. can bring out the colours abit more ??? i will u a 9/10
nice... on how he got the fish to mate.. is simple.. display a colourless female fish in front of it and it will become sexually excitied... cuz colourless fish is regarded as naked fish.... cuz it is not "wearing anything" den the fish anyhow thinks..... ![]() |

anyways, i try my best Never believe in info overloading. 10 should be a good enough number to hotlink for sharing via forums. If people are interested, they can always go to my online album I browse the finsonline sometimes, but I try not to post anything there now. I reckon it must be one of those members there who introduced you to this sub thread. Have fun here and do check back for the updates. As for the mating, I told the lady it's either me or the small fry over there. She chose the small fry Eric |

dtan, i dunno how i know, but the mating takes place around evening time. i dunno how they seek out their mates, but as they mate they will spiral upwards, with the male (the smaller one) "sticking" onto the larger female.
good pic, kthan! is this cropped or original pic? |

very documentary feel. the two smaller insets are close up macro shots or enlarged from main pic?
would having a thin border round the insets help demarcate the pics better? i'm wondering aloud. interesting pictures (patterns!!!). btw did u guys dive with a guide? |

i haven't seen much of your photos but the recent few u just posted makes me feel like u are either trying something new or your style has evolved.
maybe also subject difference. it's a nice change (doesn't mean i don't like what i've seen previously)the green thing, i think it's a nudi right? look like microscope pic of algae or some growth. some bacteria culture... looks abstract. (i like!) although subject in the middle (fishes) i feel this composition works as the coral (?) helps lead eye to your subject. although i'm left wondering whether the effect is the same or better (or worse) if u've taken from a SLIGHTLY more frontal view (from the right)... and i ADORE the fish pic. it's like right time, right moment, great shot. did u have to wait long or u were just there at the right time? now i'm stuck to this pic... i'm attracted to it. dunno why. will look again tomorrow and post again. i'm contemplating asking for a print of it. heehee |
