Default Service Needed - Repair Canon 50D DSLR

    hi all,

Can anyone introduce me for the above mentioned? My 50D, the shutter button seems like not that sensitive like before. When being full pressed it will takes 0.5-1 second to trigger the shutter.

Canon SG Quoted me S$130, trying to look for other alternative if possible.

    Please advice.

    Thanks.

Does this occur even when you set you shutter speed to 1/60?

It is just a common shutter speed to test. It can be 1/40 even . This is just to make sure that you did not complain about this issue when you may have accidentally set to probably Aperture Priority mode and the body automatically sets the shutter speed to something like 0.3 sec or 1 sec.

But Canon quoted $130 to fix. There must be something wrong with the camera. Not just some setting I guess.

you probably have a dirty shutter button. I have encountered it twice. The first time I paid the $130.. but the second time I poured electronic cleaning fluid while the camera was upside down into the battery compartment and left it to dry.

I take no responsibility for camera facking up if you try the second option though but it worked for me.
