I won't consider it as investment.
I will buy if I need to. The nikkor 10-24 uwa lens has favorable reviews.

Of course there are better choices... but "better" in what? Cheaper? Wider? Lighter? Larger aperture?

If you prefer Nikon lens and your have budget, why not. On crop body, 10-24 should give you 15-36, which quite good for landscape.

Of course it is good enough...

But personally, I will not consider the Nikon. But that is just me, and everyone has different preferences. It really comes down to your shooting style and what's important for you.

I have the lens.... love it purely for the wide-ness. used it extensively for my Europe trip.

whether is a good "investment" is up to u. for me it is serving me very well so i consider it a good investment. as for better choice, definitly got lah, but $$$

there'll be recommendations for the Tokina 11-16mm f/2.8 or the Nikon 12-24 F/4 for wide angle zoom, but in the end i went for the 10-24 because of the extra range at both ends. but for some they go for the 11-16 cos of the f/2.8 and supposedly better IQ, or the older Nikon 12-24mm for better built quality and fixed f/4, so really depends on individual.

What do you need a UWA for? If it's just because you want to buy more lenses then please save your money.

Your kit lens is relatively wide angle and suited for most beginners. I just got my 16-85 Nikkor and have no plans to get a UWA lens until i know what are the limitations of my lens for landscape first. Otherwise it'll a never ending quest for the best gear.

Reason for that is simple. If you don't need it then don't waste your money. It's not like getting a UWA improves your photographic techinque.

Meaning if my technique no good = no point of getting UWA. Cos is a waste of the lens?

Ask yourself why you are considering a new lens in the first place.

If you are considering a new lens, you are either dissatisfied with your existing photos, or you are simply very rich with cash to splash. If you fall into the second category then well, go buy.

If not, ask yourself what your photos are lacking. If you feel that you need the wider field of view then yes, get a UWA. But if you don't think your photos match up to your expectations for some other reason (eg. bad composition, poor exposure) then I don't see how a UWA will help you. I think you are better of improving your skills.
