Hi there. There are lots of people here who used to shot in film and some still shoot in film. This means you already have many of basics covered.

Hi Coolthought, yes I shoot film long ago working as a freelance photographer for a few printing company, I use Mamiya RB 67 and Nikon F2a for 35mm, This was in the early eighties, I learn this trade from a few pro by being assistance, (carry strobes, prepare shoot, product shot set up, hotel shoot etc.) lowly paid but enjoyable.
I own quite a number of camera before, (leica r4,olympus om 1,2, contax rts ,canon, and the other two mention above,Bowen for lights minolta 3 light meter)
But stop during the digital transition period, sold most of my stuff at good price before digital took full control.
I am more familiar with still life, Hobby shooting is kind of different to me.
First time own a DSLR, quite complicated with so many menu and button, every time want to change something have to stare at the camera
You guys are way ahead of me and I bow to all of you.
Sorry quite a long story my apology.
    Anyway thanks for asking.
