Quite fun to have the long reach, though it was challenging coz of poor light (overcast the whole day).
Had to push up the iso till about 1000.
Thank goodness I'm no longer on d80!!!
It was quite all right with monopod. Can shoot at about 300mm 1/200s with it.
Tricky metering situations abound. Fiddled with the metering quite a few times. I think I've gottento know my camera better this weekend

Big Big durian fall from the sky...

Why, when I was looking for it, no such durian... when I get the alternative, then it drops.... haizzz...
Anyway this is more in-line with proper pricing. The last 2 sellers I saw wanted 700+ for out of warranty set... madness.

For you the weight shouldn't be much of a problem lah.

Have you solved the tripod holder issue yet, bro? You're going to complain about weight, then my arms would have fallen on the ground by now...

Would like to ask some advice here... After reading up, i still don't know the difference in usage between a soft and hard GND. I know the difference is that the transition area between the darker and lighter side is more gradual on the soft GND, but in what situations do we use which? Do people normally get soft or hard?

Hard is when you confirm plus chop, that the horizon has a straight hard line... (eg, sea line against the sunset)...

Soft when you have a complicated horizon... three lines / roof tops / hill tops, etc... protruding objects that makes your horizon uneven...

I got soft first because I don't forsee shooting into the horizon that has a flat line (against the plain sea without huge land masses in the horizon)...

My opinion would be to go for the soft first, if you really must have a GND... and a strong one 3 or 4 stops.... (0.9 or 1.2 respectively)... but at times, you might not need a GND at all... don't rush into it just yet.
