    Default Recommended battery for flash

    Like for Speedlite 420EX, usually you guys using what battery?

    Titanium, Normal Alkaline, or others? what brand? for typical use or critical mission? Best for bucks?

    Get rechargeable NiMH batteries of a rating of 1600mAh or greater.

    I'm speaking through experience, YMMV.

    I prefer NiMH batteries. The reason is that they have excellent re-charge time on the flash. Normal usage, I'll have something like 2 - 3 seconds. If I use Duracell alkaline, the recharge time can take up to 10 seconds.

    The biggest downside is that NiMH cannot maintain constant voltage so your flash will fail mysteriously/suddenly even though your NiMH batteries are technically not flat yet.

    You can practically drain the alkalines to the last drop.

    BTW, I use GP 1600/1800 and the 420EX.

    I use Sanyo 1600 on my 420EX!
