a short trip to Hantu .. not a lot of pics, let alone to mention ok pics, but it was quite a good experience, given that i have dived hantu twice without seeing almost any marine life.
![]() dunno why this photo like that, got shades of purple and green ... ![]() feather worm ... well, at least the feather worms here are rather big .. hey, i cant find the thread where goondoo taught how to remove backscatter.. tried on my own but apparently i missed out one step or two, cant get it done.. help? ![]() huge flatworm ... siaoon and my friend described it like a towel hung out to dry ,hahaha ![]() dunno what fish this is ... ![]() flabellina... saw about three of them, my friend saw at least another two .. ![]() hmmm.. cant figure out what this is ... seems like three buckets... ![]() guess it can be easily deduced there are quite a number of feather worms there ![]() |

Hi ,
For dive sites with low vis, try your best to get up close to the subject, less water between you and the subject, also means less sediments between you and the subject. scenic shots are pretty difficult to get right due to the poor vis. Hantu's seabed is usually very soft and stirs up a silt cloud easily. If you want less backscatter or particles in your picture, it's important to know the direction of the current ( ideally the current should be towards you, so sediments caused by your landing are pushed away from the subject, letting you take "cleaner" pictures with "cleaner" backgrounds ). Take note how you land , gently does it, if you can hover better still. If you have time ( and patience ), you could also "clean" the object by fanning off the silt gently with your hands. hehehee.. Good strobe placement also helps, experiment with different placements to see what works. Hope this helps! Paul |

thanks Paul .. no strobe la, all internal or no flash ...
i tried fanning the silt off.. worse! haha.. maybe my technique was wrong. and the silt practically hangs in the water ... will try again if i dive in local waters again ![]() |
