back in my day (ok, i'm not that old), kids being mischievous involved taking bus signs... putting funny things in girls' bags... drawing obscene things on the whiteboard.

i don't think it involved posing with a chopper on the mrt.

    they're just POSEURS!

They've given bad image to those martial artists who carry weapons for their (legal) martial arts training .. like that how to take public transport without being searched by Police officers and mistaken for being a gangster?

If all these damn things keep happening, next time SBS/TIBS will install metal detectors on their buses/MRTs

How about those tattooed Geylang durain sellers in singlets wielding a chopper or machete while selling D24 or Mao Shan Wang cultivars for S$15/kg, should they be arrested also?

Perhaps they could use a pair of scissors to open up the husk instead.

Haven't known Nikon has come up with D24.

It must come with a hard case to need a big knife to open it.

i'm reminded of the time i saw a recruit declare a parang at the SAF ferry terminal....

... but only because its a replacement for one he lost outfield probably

still remember the MP's face before the sergeant came to explain

anyway... back to topic...isn't there a law or regulation about how long a knife you can carry with you... below how many inches or what not... since i'm sure people do bring swiss army knives around for convenience sake (work purposes)

Not as long as you have an Arms And Explosive (A&E) license though item such as switchblade is strictly prohibited IIRC. Under the Chapter 65 of the Singapore Statutes, even an umbrella can be classified as an offensive weapon if brandished as such.
