    dont turn getting a tripod into rocket science, as long u feel its enough for your needs than it be fine, and its comfortable for u to lug arnd and use...

    here is a list of things for you to look out for. Not conclusive though.
    1. Your budget
    2. Height of tripod with legs full extended (centre column fully down) This will depend on your height.
    3. Length of tripod when it is fully retract and compact. This will affect your ease of transport.
    4. Number legs segment. Affect 3 things, stability, fully retract length and fully extended length.
    5. Maximum weight it can carry. This will depend on your camera and lens weight and may affect the stability when you load it close to maximum.
    6. Weight of tripod (plus head) This will affect whether you will be encumbered.
    7. ease of use. extending and locking the segment easy...etc.

    For the head, generally there are 3 common types to consider;
    1. Pan head
    2. Ball head
    3. Gear head
