I think 70-200 will be better. Because of the nature, there is a minimum safety distance between performance and crowd.

Yes, there is a safety distance between the stage and the audience seat. Around 2m apart I think. 70-200mm is a good range just in case you can't grab the seats in front. For front seat 24-105mm is good enough for full body and head shot at maximum focal length.

Today's show is free seating. So be there early to grab the front seat. Normally the seats will be occupied from 5pm onward for the show start at 8pm.

One more thing, bring umbrellas, weather is unpredictable.

Today's performance is excellent especially the 2nd segment where the musicians challenged the fire performers.

An info for those who are coming for tomorrow performance. The gate will only be opened 1/2 hour before the show.
It is a ticket event and will be free seating.

Overall the event was very good and exciting.

Stage lighting was an issue to me. Too bright for the show and to pictures to bring out the fire trace, esp for the rear rows (there is an angle, which will bring strong contrast of the dark stage background and bright stage floor). A dimmer stage light like in 2009 will be preferred.
    Capture something different

agreed on that, the stage light on Friday was a lil too bright, sat was alright.

too bad the crowd control was not well enforced.i'm sure those in 10+ onwards in the Q must be very angry.
