i wanted something small and compact and light as a newbie, yet not willing to surge on dslr yet in case after two or 3 mth i hang it up but wonder what like for dslr so i decided on g12 s it has most of the function as slr, with the dial for function like exposure, shutter speed, etc which work for a lazy man like me

m...... have not read up on pentex but i think what u say is true, for the similiar price may as well buy pentex

it is good fight on this two model

u got any un process picture to share

Can`t really compare Pentax Kx with G12 as they are of different class. Pentax DSLR sensor is much bigger than G12. U can see the review & sample on below link

    http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/pentaxkx/page2.asp

G12 is a good camera but price just don`t worth it.
Note: I am not an advertiser or i am a fan of Pentax. I myself own a Canon A620 .

I am also still learning & not really good at photography. Agree that we can share our experience in photography. Advice from our senior here is to keep on shooting , read & see more about photography.

Your photo seem Nice to me especially the colour. For night shot i usually use tripod & set the ISO the lowest with F8 (max ) & 6 to 10 sec (depend on actual ground). If i find my photo is abit soft or dark. I will use photoscape to compensate.

Here some of my photo (some are quite plain actually)

Don't worry about the camera, there is always something "better" out there

It is easy to be excited to keep shooting especially when new in this hobby or when one gets a new camera.

To threadstarter, sorry to burst your bubble, but a lot of your shots will be considered snapshots. You need to work on your composition. Look at how other execute a similar scene and learn from there.

Sometimes, one need to slow down a little. Think before you press the shutter. Shoot, review and reshoot.

    Hi Grumpy

    My point is as below
1)G12 is not worth buying with this price range .If i want light & compact with manual function a Canon S95 or pana LX3 or 5 is more worth .

    2) TS is comparing G12 & Pentax Kx so i just give my personal view as they are of different class. Pentax kx beat G12 & is cheaper.

    3) With this price range why not get a better cam (DSLR Kx) rather than regret later and need to spend again for better IQ but of cos if money is not issue then is OK.

No offend to anyone just my point of view.
