Soon to be released next year March... Fujifilm x100

    Reasons:

1.) classic style traditional and retro rangefinder looks
    2.) large-sensor compact camers, 12Mp APS-C CMOS sensor
    3.) fixed lens - 23mm f2 (equivalent to 35mm)
4.) analogue controls for shutter speed, aperture and exposure compensation
    5.) new 'hybrif' viewfinder system
    6.) 720p HD movie recording
    7.) 460k dot 2.8" LCD

TS didn't state the budget. My recommendations... M9 w/50mm f/0.95 or GRDIII

Budget around the range of LX5. I tried the S95 yesterday and found that although it's really small, the grip is almost non existence . The EX1's screen can be very useful, P7000 a little too big and the LX5 has got excellent IQ.

There's also a promotion for EPL-1 at $820 with the 14-42mm.......focusing is a little slow but body's just a tad larger than P7000. Now, that's a tough choice

Thanks folks for all your inputs, really appreciate that . I bought an EPL1 eventually but I still think these high end compacts do have a valid market. Maybe someday I might decide to get one as well.

I think you have misled people here in only providing you with compact camera info since early in your posts you have stated that prosumer type of cameras are too big for your liking. I believe EPL1 is in line with prosumer cameras such as Canon Powershot SX30IS but with a bigger sensor and changeable lenses.

For everyday 'in your back pocket' kind of camera, I think EPL1 is too big already. Anyway, have fun with your EPL1.
