Had trouble focusing.

hey ... not bad. At least you got a shot with everything in focus.
It is definitely difficult out there yesterday to get a proper shot even at ISO1600.

And most of the time, I switch to manual focus.

well, think the emphasis here is the action... a level horizon might include non-important and maybe distraction inthe frame.
