I think your friend has an inferiority complex to tell you something like that ... is just plain bandwagon talk

I just completed a review of the NX100 recently ...... it is a tool (as ALL blardy cameras are) that handles most situations very well .... it does not have a viewfinder , the brand is very new in this sector of the market.... but importantly, they try hard... and MOST importantly, like what other brothers have said.... photography is about your personal journey....

I have a simple way of thinking. Why care about what bad things they are saying, as long as you are enjoying yourself and not doing any thing wrong/bad/against morals.

    Thanks for the encouragement!

ask your friend to stuff his 7D + a 20mm prime lens into his pants pocket ...... you can do this with your NX100 + 20mm pancake prime ....... imagine the possibilities LOL !

ask him to share his pictures here..

i don't think a true friend will tell you something like that.. if he's a true friend, he will give you support and encouragement..

to tell you something, i have dslr, but i still shoot with my 2mp LG phone, and i like what i see.. it doesn't matter what camera you have, as long as you love it and you love what you take.. i know some pros take beautiful pictures using beaten up rangefinder cameras from decades ago, where auto white balance or metering had not invented yet, or even toy cameras such as lomos and dianas.. it is more of the who rather than the what..

so, bottom line, just shoot, use the skills in the links DD123 have provided, or join outings, post your pictures here to be given constructive comments, and improve!

Yeah, CS is a great forum, never regret joining it! a very warm welcome to you!

(if you want, i don't mind going out and shoot with you if we have the time! we can learn from each other! haha! i always shoot alone, too..)

    hi wm910

i bought my nx100 3 weeks ago. last saturday was the first time i
    played with it.
found the instruction manual quite difficult to understand.

are you able to master all the functions , like using the i-functions
, how to shoot in manual mode , etc etc.

any nx100 owner who is very familiar with the camera , please help
    too.

give me a step by step guide on the how-to ?
    thanks.

It's not that difficult. Go through the links given by the helpful CSers here and then try out what you have learned with hands on.
I started off this hobby with a Samsung EX1. Learn to shoot in manual mode is important.

This is actually a nice looking camera with interchangeable lens. Small and generally less visible when you are taking photos with it. Make good use of its advantages and don't bother with what others said. Only drawback I see here is a lack of lenses. Just curious, is there any other make whereby the lens mount is compatible with this?

Do watch out for the sunchasers group outing in the outing section.

many many many many years ago i was playing with the canon A1.
when i set to AP mode , i can change the speed , when i use manual mode
i can set speed and aperture , all these steps can be done easily.
now with this NX100 , i just cannot manage to do the same thing.
very confusion instrusions from the manual.
need someone to just give me a kick-start with a step by step guide
, for example , when using AP mode , how to i change speed.
what is the i-function buttom on the lens for , how to use it.
if i can do the above , i think i can figure out the rest.
    thanks.

hi, i think if you use AP (which is aperture priority mode) you can set the aperture but the camera will set the (shutter) speed for you.. it's like semi auto.. if you want to set the speed as well, use manual mode (usually denoted as M).. the i-function is basically a button where you can set custom menu (if i'm not wrong) so that you can access it easily without going into the drop down menu.. i think it is stated in the website for nx100..

    http://www.samsung.com/sg/nx100/

i'm nikon user, but i utilize search engine..

    cheers
