    Hi Everyone

I'm a newbie member of clubsnap, I've learned about this portal from my friends who are also SLR enthusiast. I've just bought a d60 2nd hand nikon and would like to get advice on where to start?

    Thanks

There is really no great secret to being an amazing photographer. To start with sit down and learn how to use your camera. Once you know how to operate the equipment go Shoot, Shoot and Shoot. The more you shoot, the better you'll get.

If you are completely new to photography, no harm to start with the basics.. Visit and read this link:

    1) learn how to operate your camera well (ie get familiarized with it)
    2) read up on photography basics (certain unique terminology, etc)

    * sometimes you embark on 2) then realize you need to go back to 1).

    3) practise and gain experience

after that it's down to talent and perseverance. Good luck!

If you like the socialising aspect, can look out for gatherings and outings (in the appropriate section) and register your attendance there to meet other photographers.
    Exploring! :)

    Welcome friend,
My suggestion is to spend more on composition first, then go into knowing technical parameters and details of your camera.
While learning basic composition rules like "rule of third" you may keep your camera in auto mode.
