so D90 can do IR to trigger the flashgun without firing the pop-up flash? how to check if the flashgun got such feature?

so to trigger the flashgun off camera it can be done wireless via IR/transmitter or cord or by firing a pre-flash from the pop-up flash?
    This is not correct.

The pop-up flash has to fire in order to trigger the flash unit wirelessly.

The pop-up will be the one firing the IR pulse. Third party brands are sometimes compatible with nikon's CLS, i know nissin higher end flashes can. The other brands u have to check.

Welcome to CS and welcome to D90! Hehe. Ask if you have any doubts, but please make sure the user manual has been read through. For me, I read it twice at least.

For bags, it must not be only stylish. You also need to feel comfortable carrying it as you may carry your gear in the bag for a whole day of shooting.

Remember to get a dry cabinet as well!

Remember to shoot more, try more things, read more and join more outings.

so its possible to trigger the flashgun without the pop-up flash?

if its possible, how do you check if the flashgun can support? is there some kind of technology name for it?

I thought my sentence already very clear... still don't understand?
The only other ways I can think of to trigger the remote flashgun without requiring the pop-up flash to fire:

    1) Mount an SU-800 wireless speedlight commander on the hotshoe

    2) Mount some sort of wireless radio trigger on the hotshoe, and the 'partner' unit on the remote flashgun.

I just got my first DSLR, a D90 kit, three weeks ago

Previously using a compact camera, so I'm now trying to get use to this new camera, both in terms of its size and weight, and also the many features found in this wonderful camera.

My current goal now is to learn more about composition, and I hope to learn from the brothers and sisters here

Welcome to the D90 user group

If you have any specific questions about the D90's operation etc, feel free to post them here. Try to keep pricing questions, or stuff that's not exactly related to D90 specifically, out of this thread.
You may wish to check out our TCSS thread HERE which is more liberal, and where we plan casual outings, etc.

Thanks Skylover and ZerocoolAstra for welcoming me to the family

I just created my own thread in Street/Candids to show my amateur efforts. Hope that all the bros and sis here enjoy it and give me comments and guidance

Wow, its so warmth to be a family of D90 user! Appreciate the welcome. Thanks for the link. Very useful info!

Well some question. If I'm at overseas, and doesn't have any dry box for two weeks, will my lens spoilt? Read some info on net, if you are using it everyday, and expose to the sun, there's no way your lens will get moist. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, it's for my upcoming trip bro. I will be touring from Chiang Mai to Chiang Rai, Burma border, Laos and Pai province. The thing is I'm afraid is that now is winter time for north of Thailand, thus there will be less sun, will my lens get moist? Any feedback sir?
